Teaching Philosophy
As an Instructor of the Chinese Kung Fu Academy each and every one of us has a responsibility to uphold the virtues of the school. 8 Golden Rules govern how we approach training and general etiquette in the kwoon (dojo or training hall):
- Respect your elders;
- Respect your parents;
- Respect your teachers; and
- Respect their teachings
- Train to be kind;
- Train to be honest;
- Train to be generous; and
- Train kung fu.
These golden rules are the pillars of our school and the virtues that will uphold us in the communities we live in. Your kung fu is more than just fighting it is an art form of the highest levels, it shall take you on a lifetime journey of self discovery and self realizations. At all times you should endeavor and strive to be the very best you can be within yourself.
To teach someone is to learn twice. This is the philosophy we live and teach by as it shall help both you and us to grow in many ways shapes and forms. Our instructors regulary teach at all levels and welcome new students into the school with a gentle approach and demeanor. We tailor our training to the individual, so you can achieve your goals whether that be fitness, self confidence, self defense or competition fighting.
Health and Saftey
At the Chinese Kung Fu Academy, Health and safety has the highest priority. Each of us has a legal and moral obligation to look after the welfare and safety of our ‘family’ members, guests and visitors. A SAFER Academy is a better place for everyone:
- Students taking part in any of the CKFA’s
- Activities, or who use any of the CKFA’s
- Facilities are
- Expected to act in accordance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations and be
- Responsible for reporting any risks or hazards that may adversely affect the CKFA’s legal obligations immediately.
As a member of our organisation you must comply with all obligations and safety requirements as they are laid out in the Workplace Health & Safety Regulations Act 1997, the relevant Codes of Practise, and the Chinese Kung Fu Academy’s Code of Conduct. Although this as a summary may seem quite overwhelming, a lot of the rules make common sense. As long as you are alert, aware, read our Code of Conduct, listen to your instructors, and report any risks or hazards that you may encounter, you should have no problems with these guidelines.

Our instructors are required to become accredited through the AKWF accreditation process once they have been training for 5 years. They will learn about the latest skill for coaching athletes plus will be required to obtain First Aid Certification and a Blue Card. By being a member of the AKWF enables us to operate under best practises within our art which will be of benefit to all members. It will also enable us to strive toward competing at State, National and Olympic Games in the future. Being a member of the AKWF also provides security for new students wishing to join our schools by knowing that our school is operating under a division of the Australian Institute Of Sport.
